Rant of the Day

OK it has been awhile since I have "ranted," so I figured I would rant about a topic that really burns me up. When someone gets employee of the month, or some other honor, it really fucking irritates me when other people say things like, "Oh she/he did not deserve to get that" or, "she/he must have known the person on the judging committee because she/he certainly should not have gotten that award."
Now, come on, the MAJORITY of the time, the people who get those awards DO deserve them! And the people who talk negatively about the ones who get the awards are spiteful, jealous, assholes! At my job, we have employee of the month. For the month of February, the lady who got it this month is a really nice woman, is quiet, keeps to herself, and is a patient advocate. She runs the sewing class, and really does an outstanding job. She truly does deserve to get employee of the month.
I overheard two women "bitches" talking last week about how this woman did not deserve to get it, and my temper flared. I went up to them and yes, let them have it. Their mouths dropped open, and they were shocked but I did not care. I get so sick of people talking shit about those who get awards! What is the big deal? Is it that hard to just say "Congratulations?"
I see it here too. If someone gets praise for something, or gets an award like member of the month, there is always that one or two that won't say a damn thing. I think it is petty, selfish, and just plain mean. Why can't they just type a few nice words? But, it just makes THEM look bad! So, go ahead those of you who choose not to say a few nice words to the ones who truly deserve it. You are just showing your true colors!!

I agree with you angel love 110%!!! Some people are just jealous and can't be happy for others, it is sad really that the world has come to this.

Yes it is sad love, but people show their true colors when they act like that.

It really is hard for people to be genuinely happy for others when they are not happy themselves. It's human nature. I try not to let it get to me too much. Really, I feel sorry for them. I'm guilty of feeling jealous myself, but as I've gotten older, I've really tried to be more self-aware and to avoid such negativity. It's not easy. It's much easier to be miserable and snarky.

True Cinny, it is easier to be miserable but if we stay miserable, it just follows us around. We have to strive to be positive, and if we do, we find that our lives will be more positive. It really will! I have been jealous of others too, I think we all have at one time or another - it is human nature. But it does not hurt us to congratulate others for a job well done! :)
